    Description

    Light colored grass, tightly woven in a round shape.
    Shallow depth of 2.5".
    60 Cowrie shells are woven into the design & completely surround the top making Cowrie shells the rim of the basket.
    Cowrie shells come from the ocean & vary in size, shape & color. Nature doesn't make them all the same.
    The kind on this basket, from my research, are called "Money Cowrie". They are off white & glossy.
    The basket is very clean & in good condition. It has areas that are uneven in the weaving & one area on the outside where the weaving has breakage. See pics for location & severity.
    Very unique. Not knowledge about the history or exact age. Personally have had since the early 90's.
