Description
THIS CLARINET IS A RARE FIND!! I RECEIVED IT FROM THE OWNER WHO'S FATHER PLAYED THE CLARINET IN THE40's INTO THE LATE-1960s.
IT APPEARS TO BE MADE IN FRANCE PER THE MOUTHPIECE. I ATTACHED MY MOUTHPIECE TO THE BODY OF THIS
CLARINET AND IT PLAYS OH-SO-BEAUTIFULLY!! THE TONE IS RICH, FULL AND PERFECTLY IN KEY!! BTW, I KNOW THE
PHOTO SHOWS THE MOUTHPIECE LIGATURE CROOKED, BECAUSE I FORGOT TO SWITCH TO HIS ORIGINAL AND HAD
BEGUN TO DISMANTLE MINE FROM THE SOLOIST BODY.
HIS MOUTHPIECE DOES
NOT
HAVE A CAP.
ALL PADS ARE WORKING WELL. IT MAY HAVE BEEN RESTORED RECENTLY BUT THE OWNER DID NOT KNOW
FOR SURE WHAT HER DAD DID OR DID NOT DO TO IT, JUST THAT HE HAD BEEN THE SOLE OWNER.
THE CASE IS OBVIOUSLY
NOT
THE ORIGINAL, BUT IT IS A CASE NONETHELESS.
THE SERIAL NUMBER CAN BE FOUND IN TWO PLACES {SEE PHOTOS}
THE REED THAT WAS IN THE MOUTHPIECE WAS A NUMBER 4.5, MITCHELL LURIE; OBVIOUSLY HE PLAYED WELL!
PER THE SERIAL NUMBER, IT IS DATED TO EITHER 1959 OR 1960 BY THE LISTINGS OF SELMER.
IT
DOES HAVE THE
SPRING LOADED A KEY, AND THE SCREW FOR THE OCTAVE KEY AS WELL AS THE
OPEN C DRILLED HOLE VS HOLLOW - FOR EASY CLEANING ON ALL 3. THESE ARE INDICATIVE OF
A MORE RARE MADE INSTRUMENT AND PROOF OF ITS AGE.
THIS CLARINET IS ABSOLUTELY A MAGNIFICENT INSTRUMENT AT A GREAT PRICE!!
PLEASE ASK FOR MORE PHOTOS OR MORE QUESTIONS BEFORE PLACING YOUR BID AS THIS SALE IS FINAL.
THANK YOU.
