Tube/tunnel has a perforated pattern and is sloped downward at a 10° angle.
Textured finish allows nesting birds to more easily grip the surface...
Acts as a hole restrictor to prevent chewing/gnawing predators from enlarging the entrance into the nest cavity... also assures proper entrance hole diameter...
Also serves as a tube/tunnel entrance making it harder for predators to reach inside the birdhouse to snatch eggs/young/parents.
Absence of a perch prevents predatory birds such as sparrows / starlings from easily raiding the nest.
